| The
diversity of the habitats in the Omboué area (coastal bushes, lagoon and
rivers, mangroves and seasonally inundated forest, savannas, patches of woodland,
and dry land forests) is responsible for the richness of the avifauna. Although
there are approximately 300 bird species recorded for the area, Central Africa's
resident expert Patrice Christy has chosen thirty seven as being particularly
interesting with five topping the list as 'must sees'. Local species, common
species, those with a restricted range as well as rare and uncommon birds are
included. |
