We'll coast slowly along by pirogue for the opportunity to spot special birds of the forest rivers: Hartlaub's Duck, African Finfoot, kingfishers … The observation of Fishing Owls (Pel's and Vermiculated) during the day is possible but the best chances are at dusk (see 'Excursion #5: Mpivié River - Afternoon & Dusk').

Both rivers are good areas to look for spinetails including the uncommon Black Spinetail.

We'll make several stops along both rivers to observe the rich avifauna.
