This
tour is a must for visitors seeking the Africa of picture books and movies with
the added bonus of top birds thrown in! A river of infinite beauty and
solitude, the Mpivié meanders silently through dense rainforest before
rejoining the swells of the vast Fernan Vaz lagoon. Those in search of peace will
find it here in droves - an isolated corner of paradise where even sunning crocodiles
appear reluctant to disturb the harmony.
Haunt of the highly prized Fishing
Owls (both Pel's and Vermiculated) and the Dwarf and Long-Snouted Crocodile, visitors
will have plenty of opportunity for photographs as our pirogue drifts slowly along.
In addition to the owls, we'll be on the lookout not only for night birds (Night
Heron for example) but night mammals as well: flying squirrels, duikers coming
down to the water's edge to drink, the palm civet and genets amongst others. |
